of early photographic printing being so closely related to today’s
printmaking and to my work really caught my attention. Using the
early botanical interest of flora and fauna, I used feathers to make
contact prints with both photo-etching and solar plate techniques.
prints had a nostalgic feel to them, suggestive of another era and
referencing the early work of photography and printing techniques
explored. This form of photogram made without a camera becomes a
trace of a presence, an indexical sign, a physical transfer and has
a haptic quality, all of which resonate with my work.
